Winterball: Black and Blue

It seems like whenever I think about doing an entry I never do it. Ok, so Christmas is passed and everyone's had a good time, hopefully. Anyway, I wanted to write about winterball before I forget.

Dec. 21st, on Saturday, my parents brought me to church because I had to pick up a few things. I had to get a map of Waikoloa to find out where this girl Delilah lives (because I forgot what street her house was on) because she and her cousin were catching a ride with me to get to this Christmas party that the St. Benedict church in South Kona was hosting. After we picked them up it was a looong drive, past Keahou and nearly down to the City of Refuge. My dad drove down this sort of bumpy road, and I laughed at the radio station because it sounded like two different songs fighting each other to play.

Anyway, we finally made it to St. Benedict's. I had forgotten what the church looked like but I could vaguely remember seeing it before. My parents helped me unload some stuff and then they left after the others from our church arrived. The party was fine, we sang, had to share trees for the Christmas tree decorating contest since whoever was supposed to have brought the trees didn't, we had lunch, and Delilah and I had to vote for youth Chairperson and such for our Vicariate meetings. Our parish didn't win the Christmas tree decorating contest, but we did win for 'Most Religious'.

Anyway we had a gift exchange and then I had to leave early to get ready for winterball. My parents took me down to Kona and my mom had me get a hair cut. My hair looked nice but the rest of me was terrible. Later we went down to Royal Waikoloa where the Hilton hotel was, but stopped at this turn where workers went to rest and then I changed in the car and my mom did my makeup. After we were done we went to the hotel. The guy I knew named Jensen opened the door for me and then I went into the lobby with my mom. We went into the bathroom first. When I passed through the lobby I saw some winterball attendants and I was surprised at how many girls wore black. I met Jayleen when she came into the bathroom and said a lot of people were wearing black and she commented that it was like we were all going to one big funeral.

When she left I went out again with my mom and I saw Cami there. She was sitting at the same table with me and my other friends. We were waiting for Chelsea and our friend Marcus because he was her date to arrive. There I also met Kehau and her sister Hoku and they were sitting at our table as well. We took some pictures, and then we still waited for Chelsea. Cami decided to call her on her cell and tell her we were going down to the ballroom. My parents were going to eat dinner at this restaurant in the hotel and left. So I went with Cami, Kehau and Hoku down to the ballroom where a bunch of other kids were waiting.

Cami was surprised because there was another girl who wore the exact same dress as her. We waited to see if the ballroom doors would open and I was thinking we were probably at the wrong ballroom. Chelsea and Marcus soon arrived and that's when everyone else started walking further down the hall to ballroom where winterball was actually taking place. So we all went down the hall and saw everyone there. I didn't know that you still had to pay to buy pictures even if you took one so I didn't get a solo pic, rather just with my friends. Then we all went to our table in the ballroom.

We waited for a while and then it started and we ate a nice dinner. All of us were bored for a while, until they started the music to dance, but after they had announced the winterball court who did the first dance. It took a while for us to all go up and dance then go back to the table then dance and what not. I just danced with my friends since I was still chicken to dance with any guys. I danced 'close to' but not 'with' some of my guy friends, but only next to one of my other friends. I looked around at other girls dancing with guys and sometimes it'd make me think 'damn that looks naughty' but I didn't do too much dancing since my high heels hurt my feet but I took those off after a while. And so I waited around until it was the last song and my friends and I danced and then it was time to go. I put my shoes back on, and told my friends that we should all go take a picture in front of the big stairs. Then I said bye to my friends for a nice time and went to my parents who were waiting in the lobby.

To sum it all up, winterball wasn't the greatest. I didn't know why I had decided to go, since my other friends didn't go and had gone to their own party, of which I probably wouldn't be able to go to anyway. All we did was sit, eat, and dance, all in at least 3 hours. I guess I got a little more than half my $55 worth. And when I got home I wasn't in exactly the best mood because I was so tired from the whole day.

Well...I'll have to see if I have the gall to go to another one of those events anytime soon...could you tell I was excited about it? I guess not since how I wrote this entry seems so dull.

Next time, my dear...next time...

But, to amuse myself I just want to put down some quotes from my friends over the week before Winter Break.

"You bring heaven to life!" ~Cianna to me.

"You heartless bitch!" ~Thomas to Brandy; winterball.
