Tennis Frenzy

Well, I guess I've finally decided to do some writing. And there's LOTS of it that I wanted to do, and of course, never get around to doing it.

I've finally found my sport. Yep, tennis. There's just something about a sport where you can hit something that you hold in your hands. Kinda like a stress reliever. Not really, maybe I just like to hit things. Not that I'm the violent type.

Tennis just seemed to be 'my sport'. But I suck at it big time. I learn pretty fast, though. So I am suddenly plunged into the world of tennis. Of course I'm playing it for fun, but as being part of the high school team it's like it has to become a part of my social life. Great. Well I'm starting to like it. My mom is now nagging me that I should try to go pro. No way I'm going to commit myself to that.

I've already quit my piano lessons...given on on getting a job all because I wanted to play tennis. At least now I have something to do and have a good mark on a college application. Though I doubt it would do that much. I would rather be involved in a creative writing or art club. Alas, there is none such in our school. School systems these days...

Last week Wednesday I went on this tennis field trip to the Hilton Waikoloa hotel along with a group of other people who wanted to be on the tennis team to be 'ball persons' for the tennis players. It was the Men's ATP Tournament. We were seperated into three groups on three different courts. We were trained on how to get the balls for the players and such.

It was pretty interesting to watch those players. The singles matches were very tense. It was funny to hear the players make noises when they hit the ball. They do that because they're releasing energy into their shot. So you can hear the echoes of their sounds across the court as the ball flies back and forth.

We got free adidas t-shirts and hats and we got them signed. We really didn't know any of the players at all but they were cool. There was this one German guy who seemed pretty uptight and didn't want to make and autograph, probably because he lost the match.

They would swear, most of them being foreign, yapping about in their language. The German guy even threw his racquet across the court.

So enough about that..I had two practices this week. Yet I practice three times a week, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. It doesn't seem so bad, yet I hope I will be able to get better before we actually play matches.

We'd just stand in the corner and wait if a ball would come to us, and toss them over to the players if we're on the serving side. They'd nod their head or just look at us and we'd toss a couple to them. They'd choose maybe three, toss one back, and pocket one before they serve. The ref would call to have the balls changed once in a while. I don't even really understand tennis or how to score but I guess I'm getting the hang of it.

So, I guess it's something to do...seems like I've lost my motivation for piano, but I'm trying.
