Well this is something really interesting. My Japanese teacher showed the class this book called "Da Word," a book that contains nothing but the 'pidgin' language. What is the pidgin language? Well it was a form way of the immigrants such as the Japanese, Filipinos, and other cultural races to communicate with each other during the Hawaii plantation days. They didn't know how to speak each other's language, so they formed their own.

So about this book, pidgin is very interesting to read. It is like the 'official' language around here, something that is commonly spoken by cultural races here in Hawaii. My family speaks very light pidgin often. So anyway my Japanese teacher made copies of a certain section in the book called 'Pijin Wawrz' (Pidgin Wars). The pidgin in that section is very hard core. It takes a while to understand everything. I had a comment that when you look at the words, it looks like a completely different language. And in a way, it is.

So here is a small sample of what pidgin is. The entire section talks about an actual event in Hawaii's government history concerning the actions of "Big Ben".

So...can you read it? Hehe..a little hard, eh? well...

My translation:

~~~~~~~~~~~
They thought he was one of them. Big Ben was the betrayer. He played up his Local roots, but he put down his cultural heritage. After the reelections of 2022, his binaries went ballistic and his programming became messed up. He made a mandate that there was to be no Pidgin in school whatsoever. Not in the classroom. Not out of the classroom. Not at home. Not even on the playground.
At first the majority was all for it, they thought was that you need English to be part of the bigger picture. But then things started getting extreme. Millions of people protested, citing the rights to free speech under the protection of the constitution. The Pidgin Guerilla and his army of rebels called themselves the Pidgin Protectorate and armed themselves with magnetic pills (3) rifles and stormed the State Compu-Capitol. They were turned back immediately by The Gates Global Consulate who declared Hawaii was under marshall law. Tourism was at an all time low because only those who could talk like the English Empire could now enter the state. They sent down troops to enforce Big Ben's ruling. They were now everywhere. No one could trust anyone. Neighbor could go against neighbor. Brother could go against brother.
Notes:
(1) "Big Ben" is Hawaii's former Governor Ben Cayetano.
(2) The year "2022" is exaggerated by the author.
(3) I didn't really understand what "pals" was in "mægnetik pals rifols" which I decided to just translate to "magnetic 'pills' rifles."
And that's only half of one page of a whole section...@.@ Maybe I'll post more about this story, I don't know, but it was really fun to translate it. It's an interesting read especially reading it in pidgin. There are different perspectives. Hehe, so to my readers, you've read a little bit of 'da riol wurd awv Hawaii'.
