Cherry Blossom Festival

Today turned out pretty well. My mom and I went to our town's annual Cherry Blossom Festival. So I donned my favorite peach pink cherry blossom t-shirt and we went out into town and stopped by Church Row where many cherry trees have been planted and grown for years. We decided to see what was going on but there wasn't much except for some cherry blossom branches being sold in mugs and mochi. There was also a Japanese cultural display and the Buddhist temple and stands with the history on the cherry blossom trees.

There still wasn't much to see, so my mom and I went to do a few errands. We wondered where everything was because usually all the craft booths would be at the park. It wasn't there, but we found that everything was over behind the new shopping center in Waimea that was just finished building. There they had many wonderful things to see.

Craft tents, entertainment, and traditional mochi making. The event was a Japanese and Hawaiian cultural mix. Japanese motifs, crafts, and trinkets, and a touch of Hawaiian quilts, hand-made accessories and Hawaiian heirloom jewelry. There was even a huge plant sale in the town hall, of many nurseries around the whole of Waimea.

I was going to buy something special for my mom's birthday tomorrow, but I just couldn't find anything good. I ended up buying something else, something special. My mom ended up buying a nice Japanese good luck plant, and four small mock orange plants, that she said she would plant as a 'fence' infront of our yard.

The festival was great, they had some special dances done by the local Japanese folk, dressed in their traditional wear. It wasn't completely like some Japanese festival, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Kite-flying, wagon tours, and an auto-show.

Then after we came home, my mom later told me about the space shuttle tragedy. This goes back to the incident with the Challenger. I can hear about it on the news now. Pray to those good souls...

Anyway...I took more quizzes.

You're a Tragic Romantic. Don't worry; Be
happy. Like it's really that easy, right?
Grieving takes time, no matter what you're
getting over. Don't dwell so much on what has
happened and go into the future without
expectations. Healing will come.
